    Ricoh Aficio mp2550b

I am working on a ricoh 2550. Just installed used machine. Error is you do not have privileges when trying to setup network, scan to folder, and some other functions. Other than that the machine works fine. I cannot log in as admin. They put a user and password in. I can log in as supervisor but that does not let me change the admin password. Is there a way to reset the password. I tried memory clear. And where is the password stored?

You can reset password from WIM
    Login as supervisor
    Password empty
    Then change admin password
    If it's not working answer

You tried 'memory clear'? Which one, all? If so you'll need to re-input the core data from the fingerprint sheet! Memory clear is nothing to do with the security setup.

As VGA man says, if you can log in as supervisor you will be able to change the admin password. This can be done via WIM or from the machine. From the machine, press user tools then the log in/out button (key symbol). This will bring up the login screen and you can log in as supervisor. Then go to system settings, admin settings, page 2 and select 'program/change administrator'. Select 'change' under admin 1 and enter your new admin code. Save changes and log out using the 'key' button. You can then log in as the new admin and remove the network security. The supervisor account cannot make any changes other than to reset the admin account(s).

Btw, if you're not familiar with the configuration, your problem with not being able to change network setup is because the settings screens have been secured by enabling network management in the Admin authentication. Once you have changed the admin password you'll be able to disable this lockout. Post back if you need more assistance with doing this.

If this is an MP2550B it wont print or scan as this is a "Basic" model unless it has had the print/scan option fitted. Doing a memory clear will just bring you a whole heap of problems in the future

If you can log in as supervisor. Yes you can....that's ALL the supervisor credential is for. so you're doing something wrong.

Lol. Oops. Run 5846-046 in factory SP.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

              Hit it.

One thing to also check while in Program/Change Administrator is to verify that Administrator 1 is the Network Administrator. If not change that also.

Thanks for the help copyaction. I did the admin reset with blank password and it got me in. I was trying to change it before by putting a password in and it would not work. Thanks again.
