Curling paper in SR790

Has anyone run into problems with the paper curling/rolling up as it enters the staple tray / jogger?

I've got three different finishers where the leading edge, usually, curls down and under going into the tray. In fact, the worst one of the lot, the trailing edge curls under as the paper settles back down.

I've not seen this yet, but I've had multiple instances of the tension springs on the entrance door to the jogger. The springs are black in color so it makes them hard to find in the bottom of the finisher. However, the first time I saw this I did think it was a paper curl issue.

You are talking about the black springs that provide tension to the idler rollers? The entrance door must be that curved door at the bottom of the paper path or just below the jogger tray.

I looked that area over pretty closely. Wasn't able to get the darn thing to act up for me today. Couldn't get 20 copies out of it yesterday. I wish I had 'touched' each of the idlers today. I'll take some parts manual pages with me next time and check each and every spring/idler down there.

Meanwhile, I've got to replace the front jogger fence on another finisher. That will be a good time to get a closer look at some of the inner parts of that area.

I'll let ya know what comes of it.

I had the exact same problem. Turned out it was the paper. I brought an unopened ream from the office and it ran the whole thing. I then put the customer's paper in the tray and it started curling as entered the stapler jogger section.

I'm not ruling the paper out, but I had thought I had a paper issue, brought fresh and it did the same thing. More of an FYI.

I have had several 790's with this issue. (usually landscape) If you remove the lower turn gate from the finisher there are sometmes small "cuts' in the outside ribs where the edge of the paper digs in. Caution when re-installing the guide ther are two metal tabs on the finisher frame that the guide rests on.
