    MP C4500 K pump same as Y?

Some time ago, I read on here that an MP C2800/C3300 K pump was interchangeable with the Y, and also that the same was true for the C & M pumps. That the only real reason for different P/N's, was due to the hose that comes with them. I've never had the opportunity to confirm it personally.
If that's in fact true, what I'm wondering today, is if the same is true for the MP C3500/C4500 pumps?

My problem is that I need a K pump asap, but can't get one for a few days, and I have some colour pumps on hand

Can anyone shed help me confirm or deny this please?

The pump are the same in MPC4500 machine , only thing is you cannot replaced the hose as the length is different

From memory, I'm not sure if colour unit will fit into the black unit position or Black will fit into colour position. I believe both colour and black pumps are the same units but the angle of the Colour hose nozzle/coupling is at a slightly different tangent to the black unit.
Given the different angle there might not be enough toner hose length to fit around the extra angle.

Take a colour toner pump with you and try it....

My experience is to always replace both the pump and the hose with new. On those models that used to have them listed separately in the parts catalog now have the assembly available. A partially clogged hose will take out the pump. Some techs will carry one pump and a set of hoses. Reorder what ever you have to use.

I've NEVER change the hose, only Vaccum and it never fails.
Please start you post with brand, model, problem.

If you look carefully (at least on a mpc4500) the yellow pump has the angle almost facing up while the other colours (b,m,c) have an angle of 45 degrees. The problem is not with the pump itself but with the image tranfer belt wich may block the tube as it goes in place.

Actually, this is Not what I found. I harvested a yellow pump from a parts machine I have (and cleaned it out thoroughly) and found that the K-Pump in the client's machine that I was replacing had the exact same angle (Straight up)
The 'plot thickened' after I installed it and the toner light remained on.
I manually added toner and got it working, and I was able to get my hands on a used K-pump later in the day which did resolve the problem.
So, I'm unsure if there was a problem with the Yellow pump I harvested or if I somehow damaged it with my compressor .

Since there didn't seem to be a true consensus on the compatibility of the pumps/hoses, I'm still a little stumped.
I'll have to do a little more testing when I have a machine - and it actually looks like I'll be upgrading this client's machine in a week or so, so I can fool around with it before it gets scrapped.

                Thanks for the input
