Ricoh MP 171 has a black border

I have a Ricoh MP171 that has a 2mm black border line as if top to bottom ( landscape top) registration is off by 2mm. Is there an adjustment for this? I have worked on this product and its ancestors since the Ricoh 1515 and I never saw this before. Any Ideas would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

I've seen what you describe as a black border as a drum with the coating wore off on the rear side. I'm sure you check that. Run a sky shot and see if there is any erase on the border side, because I had to change the erase lamp on one with a cleaning problem that had a dark streak down the page. Mongo

Anyways sounds like the pcu is shot, you should be able to look at the PCU and see the black on the edge of the drum where its worn out.

experience you say you do, it should've been pretty easy to identify it, if that was the case, so please tell us if you've ruled out PCU? Fuser?
Does it happen on both print and copy?
And, Yes, of course there's a registration adjustment for this, and every other mahcine in SP mode

2mm side to side registration off sounds like paper tray side fences are off by one tooth. As for the black line I agree it is most likely in the PCU.

I'm betting it the PCU as well. I just had a MP 201 with exact same symptoms------PCU Shot

[PHP] [/ PHP]DRAWER It is IN COPY ONLY ? ...... check the cover is the leading edge ? REPLACE IMAGING UNIT , ... it is behind the sheet ? E CHANGE THE DEVELOPER .... is even side of the blade ? .Check EL CAJON , MAY BE RUN THE GUIDE GREETINGS ........
