MP 4001 not registering fax option

Hi guys

We install a fax option on a MP4001 2 days ago. Setup fax forwarding as well. Today the customer phoned stating that the fax option is no longer available. We have re-seated the board but still the machine does not recognised the fax option.

Any ideas?

Test (meter) the memory batteries on the fax modem board....should be between 3 & 3.2 volts DC...if they go bad, the fax software won't load properly!....also, the MBU (Memory Board Unit) should match the machine model that it goes to...look up part number for that model here!:

At the business I work at, I have seen many off lease used machines come in with fax units that have the WRONG MBU in them!

BUT....know what to look for and where, sure does help!!!

I would also recommend checking the firmware is up to date, it probably won't solve an unrecognized fax but you should always update firmware when installing an option like fax, if you had not done so.
