Hello all, I have a ricoh 2800 that only jams when duplexing. I get a J064 code on the panel. I have ran SP5803-025 (Junction gate sensor) and it works fine. I have replaced the Paper exit unit open close assembly. I can not seem to figure this one out, has anyone had this same jam before? It jams right where it comes out of the open close assembly. Thanks for any help

There is a TSB for J064 and J067 jams for a warped guide. Its also not uncommon for the transfer deck rear hinge to break this would probably be noticable as the deck pretty much flops out of place when that happens unless its only cracked and not completly off. They added a metal stay to the transfer deck for that problem.
I would post the jam codes and check the transfer deck is not broken. I believe there is also a couple one way gears on the rear side that may be slipping so its not transporting as it should.
Also could be one of the white plastic scrappers from the top of the duplex unit as fallen off and landed under the transfer unit.
Main mounting hinges holding the transfer unit in position may be cracked or broken at the pivot point.
Disassemble transfer unit away from duplex unit to locate the problem.
check the exit guide above the fuser unit,it is probably warped from the heat. Unfortunately you need to take it out to see the damage. Had it many many times. The guide d0294424 and i believe there is a modified sensor aw010127sigpicAnything can be made to work if you fiddle with it long enough- San Diego Copier Repair.com -
Re: Ricoh MPC 2800 Jams when duplexing
I had thought about the exit unit above the fuser, but whats keeping me from replacing it is the fact that it prints single sided fine, I would think that would rule out the exit unit. I have read the tsb on the open/ close assembly and mad sure it is not warped, also replaced with the new part.Comment

Transfer unit is fine also, it has already been replaced with the upgraded kit.Comment

I figured it out. There was a piece of paper behind the right side door cover. I took the door cover off to check the gears and there it was, you would never have seen it unless you took the cover off. Thanks for all the suggestions.Comment
