    af 1022

I have noticed in several at these machines that paper jam occurs when it pulls paper from one cassete. When i check the paper in this cassete , paper is untouched (paper feed roller doesn't touch paper) . If a make a copy from the other cassete and then use again the previous cassete it works ok. I noticed in that casette that when paper cassete motor pulls up paper , it doesn't pulls it up all the way paper feed roller to touch but it has a gap 1 or2 mm .So when paper feed roller tries to pull the paper it doesn;t pulls it because it doesn;t touch it. When i make a copy from the other cassete paper cassete motor pulls up paper at these 1 or mm and it;s ok.
Any idea how to fix it? It is very annoying and confuses customers.

Check the drive coupling from the machine to the cassette lift plate shaft. It can crack in the middle, which is kind of hard to see, but will cause the paper to not lift properly.
Also, you might check the tray lift mechanics in the machine. On older machines like that I have seen the linking springs break. I have tried to reform them with varied but usually stupid results. If those springs ever break, replacing them, new or from another machine, is normally the best course of action.

as mentioned the lift coupling gear cracked, lift springs weak or broken and make sure the paper tray end fence is not jammed up against the stack of paper.
assuming of course you already replaced the feed roller and sep pad.

Every time I have had feed problems with these older dogs it has been a broken spring.

I solved it by replacing a stronger or shorter spring in tray lift mechanics.

            This is what usually happens.
