    Ricoh C2550 faded printing

    Hi!

I bought a damaged Ricoh C2550 it initially had the cyan toner in the black and the toner was mixed. I cleaned the hopper and changed all the developers and drum units. I also changed the transfer belt and the fusing belt. By error at the beginning I did a factory reset... Now that I have it working the printings are faded. I tried changing the bias and with that change i observed a little of improvement. Any suggestion? Is the factory reset the problem?

Factory reset may not be the entire problem, but you'll never get it right until you re-enter all the data from the birth certificate (if you have it), and see where you are after that.

By the way...I'm not personally aware of ANY situation that a complete factory reset is ever a good idea.
Please correct me if I'm wrong

Whoops!!! First up put the biases back where they should be, usually they never need touching. Then go looking for the copiers "birth certificate", thats all the factory settings that got adjusted as it came off the assembly line. It should be behind the instruction sheet on the inside of the front door. These are all the setting that you have wiped so put them all back into the SP settings.
Then go into User Tools and under Maintenance run ACC (Auto Colour Calibration) and see what goes.

I hope you didn't pay too much for it..............

Actually it shouldn't be that much of a drama as the settings are only fine tuning but the copier is much happier if its settings are correct. Can you check the birth certificate from another copier?

They are individual to each copier so I would only use one as a rough guide. Sorry, but don't have any MP C2550's around the office at the moment so if you can wait until I get out to the warehouse and rat through our trade-in copiers i'll see if I can find one for you.

As far as i know the "birth certificate" can be requested from Ricoh, as I was told they keep this data on file for 5 years after production date?

Helps if you are the original seller of the machine but not if you inherit one.

Check SP 2119-001, 002 and 003. The should be 0. If not see "Recovery procedure for no replacement preparation of laser unit" in the service manual.

The biggest problem with no birth certificate is setting the laser unit. These are:
                      • SP2-101-001 to -004: Color Registration: Main Scan for each color
                      • SP2-101-013 to -016: Color Registration: Sub Scan for each color
                      • SP2-102-001, -003, -004, -006, -007, -009, -010, -012: Main Magnification for each color and line speed
                      • SP2-104-001 to -004: :LD Initial Power Adjustment for each color

Each laser unit is different. New units come with a settings sheet that should be stored with the birth certificate for future reference.
