    mpc2500 sc553

I know this has been treated many times before on this forum, but is there an other solution than to replace the fusing unit with a new one?
I replaced the thermophile inside the machine, and al the parts of the fusing unit...
Man, how thankfull i would be if anyone give me that hint
    Nice weekend!

The one thing that stands out from all the posts on this topic, is that replacing the unit is the only permanent fix.

If you compare the cost of the parts + callbacks + labour and downtime: where is the saving?

Not to mention testing the customer's patience to the point that they demand the machine be replaced citing reliability being flaky?!

Some techs believe that the fusing frame becomes skew over time that it causes all the unexplained codes - I don't know for sure.

If it was me - i'd replace the unit and know that it IS fixed.

Unfortunately not. You can replace every single part of the fuser and it will STILL code. Save the heartache, fit a new one.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

      Hit it.

If you have another machine, swap out the fusing units. If the problem moves with the fusing unit, the fusing unit is bad. If the problem stays with the original machine, check/reseat CN 257 on IOB, replace IOB, replace PSU.

This little thing makes the difference : ΑΒ01-3722.
                    A fuser maintenance item!!!
                    No more SC 553.

                      .... From memory.
I believe one of the thermal exhaust fans would spin slowly causing a false SC code.
I can't remember it was the fan under the operation panel, or the fan at the upper rear side of the duplexer door.

I had some mashines, where I replaced only the belt and got this error. I could solve this error without changing the whole fuser unit. Changing the orange foam roller AE010054 and the gear with one-way clutch that drives it ΑΒ01-3722 solved it. Thanks to Greyfox1223 and Polo-022 from this thread! If you use the whole fusing service-kit B230-KFUSA, and not only the belt, you dont see the error 553 at all.

Judging by the limited number of posts, you apparent are new here. Many of us older techs do not appreciate grave robbers. Any technical thread that has been over a year since it was started and over six the last post is considered dead and buried.

But i'm not buried at all, thank you...

sc553: do a reset not only in SP but also by installing a original fuse.
There is a way around, with a very simple doorswitch...
The procedrue is also somewhere on this forum.

i dont think he was talking about you.
As far as door switch reset i made one for the mpc3502 fuser unit.
A mp 2550 thermister connector and old micro door switch and 2 feet of wire.
