MP 2851 toner/developer on laser glass

We just picked this machine up with a new account. I'm Kyocera/Konica guy here. I'm trying to get my hands on a service manual at the moment. Looking up parts which are apparently made of gold, I'm looking to see if I can just replace individual parts as opposed to whole units. I had to vacuum out toner that was all over the laser glass causing half blank pages. Is it maybe just developer and blades I may need to replace or are we about to eat a chunk of change replacing the whole imaging unit?

Save yourself time and a callback in the future, just replace the whole drum unit with a Type 1027 PCU and if the toner tray is covered in toner as well, replace that with pn# D019-3501.
Once the seals are shot these drop toner like crazy.

You don't have to replace the entire unit, but you need to replace at least the lower frame -- the part you actually pour the developer into -- plus dev auger gears b039 3060 and 3062, plus developer.
However, you can replace the whole PCDU with the disposable PCU type 1027 which may be cheaper. These were designed for older machines from this series.
I've been doing this for years and there's no setting changes required. I think the copies come out a tiny bit darker than with the stock units, but the disposable unit generally don't leak either.
Developer initialization must be done manually.

i think what you need to know is customers expected volume and what count you are at now"user tools".
this series runs dirty and if the drum looks worn it will get dirty fast.
they break small plastic gears on the dev drive side and basically you better cover expected costs if you take it on service contract.
i still have a few running 5k/month and have replaced most of the ones i had in the field.
you can try to rebuild the drum unit but if you can get a new
type 1027 drum for less than $200 you might want to save calls.
if its running dirty you need to pull the fuser unit too as it will have toner on guides, fingers and metal cleaning roller.
these are nothing like the kyoceras good luck...

also i think you have to cut a plastic tab off the 1027 drum to fit your machine.,its on the operators side of drum unit

ok so I got my hands on the service manual, service manager ordered an IU and developer, reading how to do all this and it says to do SP2801 afterwards so I look up how to get into SP Mode and the service manual says

Entering and Exiting SP modeAsk your supervisor how to enter and/or exit the service program mode.
