Ricoh 171 firmware update failure

have just performed a firmware update firmware for a 171spf. ( I have done many )
Seemed to take quite a long time to get thru the "wait" screen, then the "preparing FW update" screen took even longer.
Although I had 6 updates on the card (proper sd card) only the "system" update showed. when performed the screen said
"reboot after card insert" STLC4a_system card No. 2/2 E32
I powered off, removed the card and it tells me to the same.On my way back with a freshly loaded card.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Good news...Just returned. After trying a fresh load, I got "download error E44"
Then I removed the expansion / print controller. The small board with a battery on it, remove and reseat it.

Then when rebooted with firmware SD card, it does the system upgrade. power off and go back in to upgrade the network support ( necessary for Win 10 )

Everything worked out !!
