    Equitrac Page Counter PC100 / Savin 8060

Was told today to find a Equitrac counter we had around the shop. When I came back with it, I was told that I had to put it on a 8060 that is yet to be delivered. It is going in a school, so...

I went to the Equitrac website and tried to download a manual on the unit, but I get a web page error (server object error). Does anyone have this manual or know how to hook this unit up.

It has a network connection on the back and I got to thinking... yeah I know, dangerous! But I was wondering how it might be used with the unit. I got to wondering if it could be used in a similar way that you connect a Ecopy Scanstation. You know, place a 5 port switch on their network and one end goes into the 8060 and the other goes into the Page Counter. Then, from a PC, set everything up or whatever.

Anyway, any help here would be great.

Are you hooking it up for print or copy control? If you are setting it up for copying you will need a copy connect cable. If you are setting it up for printing control you will need a copy of the equitrac software (as far as I know). We have a few (2) sites using it. One is set up to monitor copying and printing per department. The other is using the follow-me printing feature which prints to a queue and then can be released to any machine with a PC-100 attached to it.

PAS, PrintLog Accounting Server sortware and for that you need to have a valid licience, its not great help but you can start from here, find your software licience, and then the hardware issue. try going into equitrac website entre your PC100 serial number and try downloading the manual.

This will be used for copy control/monitoring only. I do have the cable you speak of, so that's great news. I actually found it just before leaving the shop tonight. And I did try entering the serial number of the unit on Equitrac's website, but upon clicking submit I get the page load error I mentioned in my first post. I went back and tried selecting each of the other products and it actually tells me that the serial number doesn't match the product I have selected.

As a last resort, I downloaded the point to point for the 8060 and I think I found the connector I am looking for. Well, on paper anyway. Since I don't have a similar MFP at the shop to look for the connector, I will have to wait for it to come in. Since I don't have the point to point on me right now, I will post back with what I found in the morning.

It seems as though, from what you guys have discribed, this unit can monitor/track copies and prints. If that's the case, then that explains the NIC connection on the rear of the unit. This, I'm taking it, allows the unit to communicate with the PAS server. Makes sense to me. And since we are only monitoring copies and not prints, then we should not have to have the PAS software afterall. If I'm correct in this assumtion, then that is great news!

The connector on the previous generations was on the right side just below the doc feeder on the main body of the machine. Let me see if I can find a cd that has the manual on it for you. I'll pm you the service mode entrance sequence when I remember it.

The PC100 does need server software (like Equitrac's small business edition) to do anything -- it does not have its own database on board. And you'll need software anyway to track printing.

The Ethernet in the PC100 is indeed a hub -- you can plug the MFP into one port and connect the other into a wall jack.
