    Ricoh MPC4501 code J001

This Machine keeps getting J001, I do not see any jam paper and I cleaned all the sensor, still as soon as when machine is turned on J001 shows on display and also shows how removed paper jam from the machine but there is no paper
jam any idea what else is causing this code?

    Thanks

    Input codes, test each sensor

I've found that the bridge unit door switches are the number one cause of this . I keep on hand those cause when you see 01 jams on the report that is most of the time the fix. Other than that it could be any of the machine or deck door switches. Until the machine sees a door switch cycle on and off it won't clear the jam.

J001 is a jam detected at power or when a door is closed. If it is not clearing one of two things is happening. Either there is a scrap of paper on a jam sensor or one of the door switches is not working. One other possibility is that there is a sheet of paper partially fed from one of the paper trays that is out far enough to get to the feed sensor but not far enough to be visible when you open the right side door.

This is the switch number off a 4502 bridge unit but i am pretty sure all the switches are the same going back several generations. AW500023, if your careful you can remove the switch pop the two edges up and open the switch, there is a spring, and a contact plate inside usually cleaning the contacts takes care of it. The other thing that may simply fix it without opening the switch is look at the two prongs on the switch were the wire connects if they are black scrap them off with a tiny flat screwdriver so they are shiny, a lot of these the contact greese they use gets gummy and the connection is bad, otherwise just replace them if you like.

On some of the older bridge units, I used to build up the post that activated that safety switch. A piece of thick tape or an epoxied on washer usually did the trick.
If I remember correctly the MPC 2050 (or 2550) had a switch similar to that for the rear right hand door interlock, and I had one of those that had trouble staying activated too.
Apparently the plunger on that type of switch occasionally is just the tiniest bit too short.

You can also use a business to make a spacer to go under the switch so that it rides slightly higher.
