    Ricoh aficio 220 add toner

Hello to all. I am a newbie here and I'm glad I found this site. I have been in the copier, Fax & Laser printer repair business for 20 years and enjoy it much. If I can ever help out I will. I have been servicing the toshiba line for quite a few years. I have a problem with a Ricoh aficio in that the display panel indicates "add toner" see instructions to replace toner. I opened the front cover and installed a new bottle, inserted the toner unit, closed the front door and it's still indicating that it needs toner. Any ideas & suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

You've probably got a bad toner supply motor, and a blown IC on the IOCSS board. IC #110 or something. The toner motor shorts, and takes out the IC. If you look at the board you can usually spot the blasted chip. This model is known for this problem. Replace both parts together and you should be good to go.
Don't take that toner with me!

Put a mark on the toner bottle, then let it add, then look at the bottle to see if it turned.
Raise the lever on the side of the bottle holder and see if toner comes out,
Look at the PCU assy where the bottle holder hits it to see if the PCU toner add slot is opening up., A cam on the bottle holder raises the slot lid

Thanks for the help & repleys. When I took out the old toner it was half empty. This tells me the toner motor is not turning on. I have an aftermarket service guide and will get into the sp mode to test the motor. I can't get in the customers office until 9 am tommorrow. Thanks for the tips and ideas.
