mpc2050 removing paper feed unit tray 1

    Hi there!
To remove the paper feed unit of paper tray 2 is rather easy, but I don't even know how to start with the one of tray 1!
Can you give me any advice?
    Thank you in advance!
    Greetings,
    Mark

If it does not move at all, you have a problem with the latch. Remove tray 2 and look at the latch to see if you can come up with a way to release tray 1 with a spring hook or screw driver from below, might be able to remove the face plate from tray 1. If the latch releases but the tray will only come out a couple of inches, you might have a rear side fence that has popped up out of its guide or is broken and is hitting the bracket for the paper out sensor. You may have to force it. You will possibly have to replace the paper out sensor and straighter the bracket.

Tray 1 paper feed unit comes out much like the tray 2 location, with the difference being:

You need to remove the tray 2 unit first, and though it looks impossible it will in fact come out with a little re-orienting down past where the tray 1 unit was located.

Its not that big a deal, but you will want to have a new "spring clutch" on hand. I tend to replace both trays "spring clutches" whilst im there. It usually takes about an hour. Its the spring and shitty plastic gears that the clutch spring works with that play up on this model.

Definitely replace BOTH spring clutches while it's apart. I find it WAY easier to take the power supply out of the machine. It only takes about five minutes to take it out and the feed motor assemblies are a heck of a lot easier to get out and back in. Make sure you get the feed unit (number one) ALL the way in. It is pretty easy to get it a little crooked and you won't know it until you get it all the way back together. Just make sure they "seat" on the frame.

This guy has 3 threads about the same mpc2050 jaming, in one thread he completed the spring clutch replacement. I believe this has been solved already.
