    Mp 3053 creasing paper

    Hi All
I'm having an ongoing issue with a Mp3053 creasing paper in the fusing exit area. No jams, just a crease or two down the centre of the page. All the fusing rollers have been replaced and the entrance and exit guides cleaned of all hard toner or lumps of crap. This occurs A4 long edge, I can't say I've had it do it on the short edge. It seems to go well for a short period of time, or they aren't reporting it every time it happens. I'd be grateful if you've had this fault and could enlighten me. Thanks in advance

There's an RTB for filing burrs off the duplex entrance junction gate. If you need it I'll try and find it.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

      Hit it.

it could be that the hot roller is moving to one side when it is turning, so that when the paper arrives, it shifts to one side causing the paper to crease. When you open the F.U., check if it is easy to move the HR from side to side, if yes, something might be broken that fixated it.
Or, paper could be really damped (there has been a lot of rain these past few day's, you know)...
        Good luck.

Since this was posted twice i will reply twice.

The fuser design on this is pretty much the same as the previous gen models like the 2550 and when they did that I would take the entrance guide off the bottom of the fuser and sand the two nubs in the center so they were completly flat like the rest of the guide and it always fixed the problem pretty much only happend on long edge feed or 14" length paper, or you can replace the guide with a new one.

If the side fences are not against the paper, the paper can skew on feed which can cause it to crease.

                Re: Mp 3053 creasing paper

Hi All. Thanks for your suggestions. I've been to the customer over the last two mornings before everyone arrived and got the guy to print a couple of things. Here's what I found, it only makes the two creases about 3 inches in from each end on the long edge. And only on the first page after the machine has been cool over night. It seems that it doesn't do it during the day, but I'm basing this on the information from my contact. Yesterday morning I adjusted the registration waiting mode to on SP1-105-020. The manual says the paper waits at the registration until the fuser reaches the prescribed temp. This morning the machine worked from the first page with no problem. I will find out on Monday morning if this was just a fluke as the machine has two days to sit and chill before Monday morning. My thinking behind the change of that setting is that the creases are roughly at the point where the lamp that warms the ends of the hot roller starts. And it was always and only the first page to go through the fuser. I'll find out on Monday if my theory is correct. Have a good weekend all

Tray heaters may remedy this issue as well. We've been installing quite a few on the 03 color series here lately.

The MP2550 used to throw a front registration bushing enough to be a pain in the arse.
The symptom of this is CREASING PAPER.

If the registration roller has a mylar right before it, I've seen creasing of the paper from uneven wear on the mylar and the paper not hitting the registration roller evenly!

                        Hi All
I found the problem and only by chance really. I removed the duplex gate, which the bulletin suggests to clean up the pawls as the become rough. That's when I noticed that the return spring/coil spring gate pawl p/n aa066414 was broken. The hook end that attached to the duplex guide was missing. Therefore the gate was flapping in the wind and this seemed to cause an intermittent fault. I've attached a picture from the manual with the end of the spring that broke off arrowed. Hope this helps anyone having the same problem
                        Cheers

I've just had EXACTLY the same thing. What a ballache.

Perhaps check the paper for moisture? Paper can collect alot of moisture overnight whilst machine is in sleep mode and idle, then when people come in machine fires up but moisture content in paper is high and fuser boils it out normally a few inches in from LE and random non uniform shap crease. Get them to remove paper and put a new ream in and see if still an issue. ALSO fuser heat control settings...

                            Good Luck
