MPC3004 Programming Duplex to single sided?

We just got our first MPC3004 to set up, with the new V2 SOP. The Copy Screen has been completely changed. but the machine comes (like the rest) defaulted to 1 to 2 sided mode. I can manually select single sided mode, then I go to the menu button and select "set current setting as default" but after going back to the copy window, if I push reset, the mode defaults back to the 1-2 sided mode.

Is there a setting I am missing?

Make sure when you "set as defaults" the chosen default setting you do it AFTER you are fully back in the copy screen and not while you are still in the 2 sided/combine settings screen.

Found it, You have to go into Tray paper settings first and turn off the duplex mode on each paper tray before you can program the machine default screen to turn off duplex.

      Thanks for the reply

I haven't had a chance to get my hands on one yet. When I do I will check this out.

I have an MP C4504 in front of me. While I see what you have done in setting each tray individually, I see no reason for it if you turn 2 Sided / Combine to "Off" (1 Sided ->> 1 Sided) then hit "OK" to take you back to the Copy screen. It is at this time you need to go to the 3 stacked lines (to the right of the HOME icon) and select "Set Current Setting to Default". If you do this while still in the "Combine" screen it will not hold the setting when the "Reset" button is pushed. I make sure to do this with all of these I send out to customers. We have several in the field now.

BTW...You can do this with all your settings at once as long as you wait to "default" them AFTER you have returned to to Copy screen...

...or better yet. Turn each of your main functions to Classic Mode and do it all the old fashioned way.

If I'm not mistaken, the 4054 has the V1 SOP, the menu looks virtually identical to the NOPs when in the normal copy screen. I've set up the 406 with a V2 SOP, but it had the same basic menu function as the V1 SOP. The new V2 on the 3004 has a completely different menu screen. It almost looks like the old school simple screen. You can select program current settings to default, but if you it reset, the 1-2 sided copy will return. The only way to defeat that is to turn off the duplex mode from tray paper settings, then program the 1-2sided mode off.

I have pulled my C4504 back in to confirm my previous setting. It remains in duplex "off" mode after sitting powered down all weekend. I stand by my earlier post. if the defaults are set once back in the mode as I described there is no reason to address the individual tray settings. This discussion has nothing to do with the 4054 / V1 SOP you mention. This is entirely about the V2 SOP.

Are you then going back into tray settings and turning duplex mode back on for each tray?

I repeat...NO. Changing the individual tray settings so that duplex mode is disabled will keep any users from getting a duplexed copy out of that tray if they so choose in the future. To accomplish the original posters stated objective you DO NOT have to change ANY tray settings. Follow the step-by-step procedure I outlined earlier and it will work. I have reproduced his mistake and listed the corrected steps on my machine. I am finished with this thread. Good luck.

My humble apology Slimslob. I was too quick on the trigger in this case.

                          Sorry the misinformation.

Setting up the second machine I was able to disable the duplex without disabling the tray paper settings.

I thought I had tried from both the duplex setting screen, and the copy screen but it appears that it was setting the default to non-duplex from the copy screen worked with the second machine.
