    Gestetner Dsm 622 or Ricoh Afficio 2022 Change Developer

    Hi to all,

    Can someone pls explain to me the procedure when changing the developer for this copier?
    For example what code to i use to initialize the developer when i change it?
    Do i put the toner when i initialize it or without the toner?

    Your feedback will be very appreciated.

      Don't bother trying to replace the developer. Just replace the photoconductor unit. The dev gears will fail not long after you re-dev it and you'll have to change it anyway, wasting a bag of dev.
      It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

          Thank you i have noticed the dev gears that are wearing off. Particularly is a metallic gear that has problems.Unfortunately i have changed the dev and it prints with stains. I though i was doing something wrong with the installation thats why i needed advice here. The problem is i dont have yet a new pcu. Is there a way you know i can make it work just for now with a compatible gear from other copiers i can find until i get a new PCU?

              you need to replace it with a Type 1027 PCU and it will automatically initialize when you turn it on.

                  The gears on the development roller assembly are the same as on the B039. There are places who sell rebuild kits for these that include a full set of gears. There are major potential problems with these kits. They do not include developer, they tell you which Ricoh developer to order. The drum cleaning blades are often made of a softer compound and quickly warp away from the drum. I have had the blades go bad in as little as 2000 copies. The new gears do not correct the basic cause of gears wearing. The bushings on the ixer shafts become worn and developer works its way through and onto the gears.
