swapping out used set of drums on mpc2551

    hi
i have two mpc2551 and one is dead, swapped power supply but still dead,
i popped that nvram on my working machine and see the color count is low 20k.
my working mpc2551 has over 200k on the color count and shows no drum ever changed.
if i want to swap my low count drums all at once, outside of running
process control procedure, is there anything i should do?
    thnx

You can but you loose all counters. You will also have to print the non-defaults from to have the settings for laser unit and possibly ID sensor and anything else that comes with a settings sticker as a replacement part.

I've never done that before, so take the following with a grain of salt.
However, I'd print out the non-default report when the dead machine's NVRAM was in the working machine if possible (SP5-990-06 I think) and keep it handy. That way if there is any problems when putting the dead machine's drums in the working machine, you can check the values in the SP2 and SP3 sections of the report for clues.
The values may be only suggestions though, as the working machine may have changed some of them as part of its automatic adjustments.

i guess i could but i was getting a sc 995 01 code sn different on nvram, and a 870 code plus it lost my fax option even though both machines have fax.
i was thinking of pulling the drum units apart and cleaning the charge roller and installing them in the higher count working machine.
im thinking if i had to i could add them as new units and let the machine calibrate them.
not sure if i am making a mistake doing that.
          thnx

20K is roughly 1/3 of Ricoh's recommended PM cycle. My experience is that properly adjusted, they can go double that. Just treat the drums units from the dead machine as new replacement parts and set the appropriate portions of SP 3902 to 1, power off and replace the drums units.
