MP C '04 series, Any comments yet?

The '04 series is here! we've already sold two of them and still don't have one in the showroom. Anybody seen one yet? any opinions?
Apart from having a de-curler built into the fuser there doesn't seem to be much difference.
We were told that the PCU's were going to be cheaper, they are, by all of $50!!

They look alright so far. Couple of firmware updates on my-ricoh already but the biggest tip I've found about the Cheetah panel, to get an instant keypad to get into SP modes, press and hold EX3 then press Check Status on the LCD. Keypad appears.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

Might as well get used to the Smart Op Panels They are becoming standard equipment as new models are released.

Small panel on left outer edge of op pnl housing. Remove with thumbnail to find three small buttons.EX3 referred to is the one nearest the front.

The other major change is the new mono carriage scanner gizmo, can't see what the advantage is over the traditional two carriage unit.

Looks like a possible major headache if you ever have to clean or filming dust off mirrors and lens.

That's nothing. I remember a Sanyo analog that you had to remove the DF & entire top panel (one piece) to get the exposure glass off. Analogs were a lot pickier about the optics than digitals. Heck I hardly ever have to clean mirrors anymore.

On some of the smaller Ricoh desktop units there is no direct way to take the scan glass off. You have to go in through the bottom. God help you if there is ever shit stuck to the underside of the glass.

Going slightly off topic ref smart panels. Do inform customers or IT that you can access the internet and view inappropriate sites from it. Had a school with the mpc 306 & the IT dept told me the kids were using them to view porn sites.

Oops. On the plus side of the web browser, you can access WIM on the controller from the panel.

They used the term 'fruity sites' 😉 They only found out because they left it on the screen when they left the room.

I hadn't thought of that! at last a use for a SOP.

Are you visiting the machine IP or 127.0.0.1 to achieve that?

The machine's IP. It's handy for setting up @remote.
