Gestetner P7535n : First page prints, second page produces a jam

    Hi guys,

I'm a printing technician and we've got an issue with this printer model.

When we send a job to print, the first page is printed but the second one produces a jam. Then I extract the jammed paper from the front cover. At this moment, it continues with the same issue: the first page is printed, but the second one produces a jam again with the same type.

At the lcd panel I can see the message about the jam, that disappears when I extract the jammed paper everytime the "second" paper is trying to be printed.

What can I do to solve this issue?

    Thanks in advance.

I don't know that model specifically, but it sounds to me like the paper size is set incorrectly in the tray so the paper is not where the printer 'thinks' it should be.
Does it happen with both/all trays?

open the paper tray look at the green disc located at the front left hand side of the paper tray check it is set to the correct paper size
the should be a mark to line up the y can get knocked out of position
so the machine get confused as to which paper size is in the tray

Also check the image on the paper. If it is turned the wrong way, then the way paper is loaded and set on the size dial are not the same. Like for A4, it is set for either LEF or SEF and loaded turned the other way.

Beyond the dial being set wrong also check the 3 plastic switch tabs that the dial pushes on. On the base machine when you shut that tray that dial hits 3 plastic tabs on a switch if any of those are broken off the paper size will read incorrectly as well, this is not as likely but possible if the dial is set correctly. Otherwise check your paper lift springs, tray rollers, and paper sensors as normal.

              Hey guys,

I confirm that if we load the paper in the Bypass Tray, the issue disappears.

The paper size is correctly set in the green disk from the paper tray - A4 is the selected paper size and it is knocked.

The user is happy being able to print from the bypass tray, so I've decided to close this issue.

              Thanks for your support

Ooh that would bother me to leave it hang like that with only the bypass functional mainly cause it usually sucks worse then the trays themselves but to each his own. If you do end up back on this call a couple simple checks would be first and foremost is the rear paper stay at the right spot that thing sneaks its way back as paper is loaded or the teeth get ground down so it doesnt stay..( recommend screwing it in place), second is the paper feed sensor arm intact they get broke once in a while. Third some of those have a mylar at the sep pad and if the pad is installed wrong the mylar will be bent underneath the sep pad plastic instead of sitting in its normal position this will block paper. Last would be the feed clutch located on the left side behind the plastic cover, i believe it also feeds the bypass though so if that works fine the clutch is probably ok.

Unfortunately that still leaves an issue with the paper tray, unless the customer was trying to feed card stock or something similar You may decide to close the issue, but it sounds like the machine is still f$cked up.

Do you know what the jam code is that they get when it jams. That code can tell us where and what type of jam, lead or trail edge. The friction pad for the tray being used might need to be cleaned. If the second sheet it pre-fed too far out of the tray due to a dirty friction pad, it will get to the feed detect sensor too soon and be detected as a jam.
