    T2800sp Any good??

I have a request for info from a friend who wants color with a folding finisher. His company has an opertunity to pick up a Refurb Ricoh C2800sp with the folding sorter at a good price. Are these any good and what should I watch out for in Advising him. Anything I could get right now would be a lot more cash than they have to spend.
    Thank You

They were good boxes with only one major drama, the polygon mirror motor died and took out the BICU and if you were real unlucky fried the Controller Board as well. A updated poly mirror was released that solved that problem. If you can get to inspect it prior to purchase have a look for the part number on the poly motor board and if it's AX06 0396 (I think its written on the board) its been replaced with a new one.

Also check the PM counters, look at SP 7803-091 on wards. Any thing that is close to 100% is due for replacement and PCU's aren't that cheap if you buy genuine.
At least 50% of IT is a solution looking for a problem.

Can 2nd that, on the polygon, have had loads of these knock ot the BICU over the years. The drums (D029-2256) can be modified for use in colour, saying some money.

If the machine will get heavy use, stock up on feed tyres (AF03-0090, -1090, and -2090), the 2090s are more likely to wear.

Not had any other problems with these machines. Fuser and ITB last past life, ITB can sometimes tear on the edge, if it does replace it and the cleaning unit, as the constant contact of the tear on the cleaning blade can cause it to become uneven (and more likely to flip).

Didnt they update the PTR belt box on that one for the rear nub breaking off, had to install the metal bracket thing to strengthen it. Otherwise I remember them being pretty good model high PM yield on PCUs and fuser ran pretty well. Most of the time i just emptied waste bottles and cleaned a few charge rollers in the cold time of the year.
