    C6501 problem doing TSB 13

Hey all. I recently had a c6501 dropping plops of magenta all over pages so i did the usual and removed everthing and cleaned the PCUs, the ITB, the PTR areas of toner mess, cleaned the toner duct leading to the rear filters which i replaced.

So after all that about an hour later the customer called back with the same problem, i checked to see if anyone had done the TSB 13 for toner scatter and it hadnt been done. So I followed this rfg046246.pdf after doing the section refering to *after machine installation" including updating the firmware, I went to test it with a few color pages like printer SP 1103-002 and immediately got SC 403, 404, 405 errors saying the ID sensor pattern had to much toner in it for m,c,y. I am guessing due to changing SP 3306-025 through 28, dropping all I_VT_COEFF from 100 percent to 50 percent, once i set these values to 90 instead i could run it without sc codes.

Did i miss something or how are you supposed to do this TSB if its going to cause errors, should this be done only after all developer is replaced so there is no toner mixed in already.

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks

Um, I worked on Laniers up until the mothership changed course, and I failed to check the model conversion table, which shows me I haven't worked on that model.
        Sorry about that.
If someone who has actually worked on that machine participates in this thread please ignore everything I've done here.
However, that issue sounds like it is a "mechanical" issue, so if time is not an issue and you're patient enough I might be able to help troubleshoot that. If time is of the essence though, tell me to get lost and that's the last you'll see me on this thread.
Just as a suggestion, the product support guide says that the machine was built for 30-50K prints per month. However, on the faster B/W machines running less than the expected monthly prints would cause undertoning as the toner feed system didn't run long enough. The workaround of choice for that on the B/W machines I've worked on was to adjust the toner feed time so that stayed engaged longer. I don't know if that would work with a fast color machine like that though, so you might check to see if some dope like me changed the associated values. Best I can tell, that might be SP3301, 3302, 3303, 3304 and 3310.
Also from the product support guide, apparently there was a big change in the toner for this model from the older versions of this chassis. You might check for that, especially if the machine has aftermarket toner.
Sorry if this was a useless waste of time.

Hey any reply is better then no reply, they had issues with model over toning since it came out, i was never impressed with it the previous c6000 was better. Big issue here is the customer runs no where near the recommended usage, another great sales job get them to buy bigger even if they dont need it, and wonder why it runs like crap later, I think they only reason they got this one was due to the paper thicknesses they run like 300gsm. They changed the toner mix on these to include developer in the toner and i think the problem is when they dont run the recommended usage the developer is not refreshed enough cause its basically adding new developer all the time with a poor charge to the fresh developer it leads to toner falling off the mag rollers and just makes a mess.

So far I havent been called back after doing some of the SPs and dropping them by 10% instead of the 50% the TSB calls for. See how it goes i guess.
