    C9100 trail Edge image problem

    Hey Everyone.,

I'm not a production color tech. I'm a rural tech and I got stuck with a C9100. I have tried going into the paper profile and adjusting all trail edge paper transfer settings , but am getting no change. If someone could give me a few pointers ; it would be greatly appreciated. The paper being used is coated glossy one side , paper weight 6 (12pt) , 13 X 19.

    TIA

An outside chance is that there is enough curl in the paper that it is rubbing against something between the PTR and the fusing unit.

It's a setting in the paper catalog. IIRC, the ones to change are around 67 and 68, but don't hold me to that. I can't check this week, because I'm traveling, but I can check on Monday. I think it was the settings for "Paper Transfer AC: Trail Edge DC: FC" and "Paper Transfer AC: Trail Edge AC: FC". Try adjusting up or down from where they begin by 30-40%. I think there was also another catalog entry I changed, but can't recall.

I have six (soon to be seven) C9110 at one account, and several others nearby that I support, and I've had to make this change for thicker stock on all of them.

These beasts are good machines, but the paper catalog drives me nuts sometimes.

Or, just tell your customer to print on larger paper and trim. Hah! That's a guaranteed fix.

You could try (In advanced settings for the custom paper)
          • #120 Process Speed: Set to LOW - for a quick fix.
          • #84 Paper Gap Transfer: Set to OFF

          If B&W
          • #22 Image Transfer Current B&W: Increase by 5uA
          • #41 Transfer Current; Trail Edge B&W: Set to 200%
          • #42 Transfer Current; Trail Edge Dist B&W: Set to 30mm

          If FC

          • #23 Image Transfer Current FC: Increase by 5uA
          • #47 Transfer Current; Trail Edge FC: Set to 200%
          • #48 Transfer Current; Trail Edge Dist FC: Set to 30mm

          Hope some of that helps.

I tried everyone's suggestions and got no change in cq; except when I set process speed to low. When I set process speed to slow the whole image registration moved to the left by 5-6 mm and the color reg was way off. Doing color reg in UT did not help. I set process speed back to high and basically had what I started with. If anyone has any words of wisdom; please feel free.

I finally found an adj that made a difference. Adj 16-transfer timing roller feed speed adj. I maxed out the adj at -3 and while not perfect was only barely noticeable and satisfactory with the customer. Thought I would share.
