MP2501 - Dirty background after toner end

Good day all

I have seen this on a few machines in the field, where the machine runs fine from setup, until the unit runs out of toner and stops.

Client then phones and orders toner. When they fit this toner, they log a call for dirty copies. Field tech reports overtoning, and orders drum/blade/dev for the machine.

When he returns to fit the parts the copies are fine?

It looks like it has something to do with the toner recovery from the toner end condition, as all firmware is up to date and all parts/toners/dev is OEM.

Has anyone else seen this happen?

I'm making a guess by your description of events. "When client runs out of toner, orders toner, and fits it to machine"...
If the client does not have a spare toner on hand to install when the copier "stops", clients tend to open / close door pull toner bottle out, shake, etc.
The machine cycles, trying to add toner when there is none. This can really screw the ID up. Recommend you provide back up toner and advise clients
to add the toner when the light comes on.

Yes, i have seen that two times at the same machine : an MP-2501L.
Exactly the same symptoms that Pb describes above...
I did a drum module cleaning only, first time i thought it was excessive paper dust on
the edge of drum blade...but no replacements after all, copy quality came back without any adjustments, or skyshots....

if i had a dollar for every answer i was puzzled by i d be rich...
seems like leaving extra toners there is the answer.
for those dopey accnts i have a toner hidden with the one person who
will call me as soon as the take that one so i dont have to make a toner run.
