Ricoh 3235c ADF Jam

The ADF for my Ricoh 3235c pulls a single piece of paper about halfway through and stops. Says the paper is jammed. It isn't jammed due to a staple or fold, the feeder just stops pulling it through.

It does it whether paper is in portrait or landscape.

Tried cleaning and blowing out ADF with compressed air.

It says "Paper Misfeed" the code is J054. The manual I found online doesn't have a list of definitions for codes.

that is saying the inverter sensor is not detecting.

I have had problems with the style ADF used with this model. The gear on the front of the transport roller will crack and slip. That or the belt that drives it is broken or slipping.

Pretty sure that one has a sensor to the left of the metal white plate buried up in the bend, shine a light up there from the white plate side you should be able to see it just off center towards rear or bottom, you can clean if you ram a Qtip in there its kind of a pain but that one does get dirty and causes paper to just stop.

I second the motion. Remove the front cover, hold on to the black driven roller and turn the white gear,carefully, it should not turn. If it does, then, the whole assembly will need to be replaced.
