    MPC4501 Creasing envelopes

Like the title says it creases envelopes along the direction of paper travel. Have the bypass set to the proper size 4 1/8" x 9 1/2" and I've tried from middle thick to thick 4 and they all crease. Paper type is set to envelope as well. Loading them in just as the machine manual says.

    Any tips?

I've had this problem on several machines- mostly colour, and so have many others based on the threads I've read here.
The consensus seems to be to feed them LEF with the flap open, and then mess around with the printing options in MS word (or whatever you're using) to get the proper print orientation.
I've since advised several customers to do it that way and it's worked much better.

Try adjusting paper buckle in service mode for just the bypass.
Make sure customer is using thick 2 to slow down the feeding and fusing.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

The thing to keep in mind is that you are trying to feed two or three thicknesses of paper at a time through a machine that was specifically designed to feed one thickness of paper reliably.
So, the machine should work if you are using the recommended type of envelopes. Is that the case? If so, make sure the machine is properly adjusted to accept envelopes and the fuser is in good shape.
If not, accept the fact that you will continue to encounter stupid and wrong things until you do. Sorry.

#10 evelopes, 24lb paper weight which is within what the manual says the machine can feed. Paper type set to envelope and paper size set to the size of the envelopes. I've tried middle thick to thick 4 and the thicker I set it the more it creases.

I'll try the paper buckle adjustment and see where it gets me.

With envelopes it also comes to "air bubbles" that form when it get's squished between hot and pressure roller that I come to conclusion type of envelope can lead to...try different manufacturer and it may end up being better.
Preety nice trick was to put envelope "cower" within the envelope, works sometimes.
Gears, springs, clutches, sliders, connectors and electronics...who on earth can tell what's wrong with it?

I can try some different envelopes, but they use custom printed ones that we print for them.

The best envelopes with the least problems are usually the cheapest ones you can buy.... the definition of an envelope, a folded up, glued together piece of paper with an air pocket in it...............................

We just don't use the word "Ricoh" and "envelope" in the same sentence, they just don't go together.
If the customer insists that they print onto envelopes we sometimes provide them with an El Cheapo ink jet printer just for that job. No press roller, no wrinkles.
