    Generic toner

    Hi Folks..

Any thoughts on generic color toner, specifically for the SPC- 232Dn color printer. I know that generic will work on some but not all printers and my experience on Ricoh boxes is very limited . So any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks Much
    Geo

    P.S. And the B.W . desktop printers.

Things to think about on generic after market supplies.
      1. Quality control usually does not exist
      2. Quantity of toner in a cartridge usually is less. Cartridge price may be less but cost per page may be higher.
      3. Cost to maintain copy quality normally will go up

stick to OEM, generic may be cheaper, but oem will be better for the machine.

From personal experience, you can take your chances with b/w toner. but STAY AWAY from generic colour toner!

It is an absolute nightmare, and trying to repair a machine that is misbehaving while using generic colour toner is a road you don't want to be on!

+1 on all the previous posts that cheap now expensive later - for sure!

This applies to inks as well. Have had generic inks that won't even report when they are empty, causing false service calls, and possible damage to the device! Good luck proving that!

            Penny wise, dollar stupid.

Takes out toner pumps, DV units and poor CQ.
Color toner is not the exact same color as OEM, therefore color blending is not accurate.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

              Hi Folks

Thanks for everyone's input. I am aware of the risks of generic toner for Kyocera products , but I just didn't know how well Ricoh products tolerate generic toners and how well they are made. I was hoping I could at least use generic in monochrome printers for the remainder ( one year) of an inherited contract. Unfortunately everyone gave me the wrong () answer.

              Thanks for everyone's help.

If you a non Ricoh dealer/third party service organization and you want to use generic in Ricoh B/W to get you to the end of a contract you have picked up, go with NA Trading. Their toner and developer are on a par with Ricoh in both quality and dealer cost. It is advisable to go to their developer as soon as possible as their toner works best with their developer.

I AT times have used some generic toners and stopped on the big b/w 60 plus cpm boxes and
i treat non OEM toner the same as buying cheap no name gas.
it might be ok till i start having "wierd issues"and i cant rule "IT" out as the cause of my new
                  problem.
Also on the cheap accnts that will not buy from you OEM and buy online non OEM,
I am not making anything on supplies so when i get a copy quality issue I have no problem
changing drum blades and or drum units..

This is why our maint contracts require them to get OEM toner directly from us, the cost of which is included in the contract. If they don't want to do that they can be a billable account and pay hourly plus travel charges. Which given the rural nature of our area can get expensive.

Really depends on volume for color. My low volume color accounts (less than a thousand per month) run N/A Trading aftermarkets. We run OEM on ALL black toners, regardless of model.
