Ricoh Aficio 3030 show sc870-01

I have changed the hardisk on the controller board twice and try to format the hardisk using SP5832 but it shows failed.
When pressing the scan button on the copier it shows hardisk missing but there is hardisk on the controller board.
Is the controller board having some problems.
The copier is working fine and also the printer on the copier except it cannot do scanning.
Please advise what I should check further.

Address Book Data Error
If you have a format error take out the hdd and make the format on a pc.
Put back in the machine and power on.
The initial address book structure is copied from the nvram in the first boot time, can be accesed only by admin.
Do the SP5846 041 to make available the address book.

I have done SP5846 050 before to erase all address book and that still does not solve the problem.

You do SP5846 041?? yes or no
without you will don't see address book
Failed to format usually mean bad hdd or hdd data structure.

I you changed the hdd two times, how about the
SP5853-1 to download the fixed stamps from the ROM to the HDD??

Will try that when I am in the customer place again. I have not done that yet.

Is your firmware up to date?
Specifically the controller firmware should be version 1.29 (B2155931T) or higher.

The old HDD was discontinued from production. When you install the new HDD (P/N: B0955764) for the first time, update the Controller firmware version 1.29 (or later)."


Not sure what issue the update addresses but it's worthwhile checking even if the replacement HDD is not a Ricoh part.

What size HDD have you been putting in? If it is too small, the machine will not recognize it. Also check the HDD harness and the configuration jumpers on the HDD.

Sorry it is just an observation or personal opinion, if hdd is not recognized the machine give SC861 so i think it is not this case,
If the hdd have bad sectors the machine will give the sc code only when the hdd reach the maximum bad sectors SC862.
So formating on a pc this hdd , will fix bad sectors.

But when you change the hdd or the hdd lost the address book structure you must reactivate it for address book use and it is done only with SP5846 041

The diagnostic report SP 5990-005 will show if the HDD exists or not.
Also the print/scan SD card not seated correctly can cause SC870 according to the global knowledgebase.
