Hey folks...looking for help with Ricoh MP C4503 error sc101-01, only when using document feeder, its not scanning, as copy comes out blank. When copy from glass its fine...any help appreciated..thanks
Notice the lines around the edges of the copy are parallelogram.
I'm betting on a mirror not seated square or dislodged at one end.
Probably the #1 mirror.
no... thes canner lights up, but it doesnt move to the left to continue the scan, hence, a blank copy comes out, the other thing is the sorter is not hooked up...cold that have anything to do with this isusue.. think?

SC 101-01 is generated when the white reference is scanned at power on or return from standby. Whether you are using ADF or platen glass should not make a difference.
Going by the half image sample you posted I would take a guess at a faulty SIO or IPU / IPU sub PCB if the LED light source, white plate, mirrors and lens all look to be good.
It may be worth cross referencing the current SP 4xxx-xxx settings against the factory SMC.
There is a small chance you may be able to bring it back into the adjustment manually IF it's not a hardware fault.
I'm assuming you didn't do something rash and ill advised like a memory all clear etc?

I just wanted to close the loop on this thread as this was my machine, recently purchased with 40k copies on it. The SC101-01 error turned out to be an issue with the auto-feeder glass (the small rectangular glass before the main large platen) being flipped the wrong way and the reflective tape was causing the error codes. Something so simple was overlooked due to a few other issues/error codes the machine had, some of which were attributed to the cross country shipping. I'm happy to report once that glass was flipped around, we were off and running with the SPDF and while there's still some other issues with the finisher and lower paper cabinet, the seller is shipping out replacements for those.
This is prob a pretty unique scenario, but maybe it will help someone down the road. Thanks for everyone's suggestions.
