Yep. the solution is to fit an OEM drum.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

      Thanks TonerMunkeh,
I suppose that the drum has a protection?

No, but compatible products vary wildly in their quality and you should rebuild the entire PCU, including developer, when you have reason to replace any parts on this model.

There is also a slight difference between the measurements of the end pieces of the drum when compared to the MP2000 drum. We have found this to cause the drum to move away from the drum stay and this causes all kinds of CQ problems.

Best bet, as said before, stay away from compatibles!

            Thanks Polarbear,

if I understood correctly, drum is not same size as the MP2000?

              Hi

there are differences yes. Off the bat it looks the same, but it is not.

We discontinued using the compatibles because of all the return calls they caused.

Eh? My parts catalog shows these machines taking the B039 drum and that's all I've ever fit to them! Are they different??

One thing I have discovered over the years, do not buy just because it says OEM. OEM merely means that it is manufactured to original equipment specifications but not necessarily the same quality of Genuine Ricoh (or Sharp or Canon, etc).

I have rebuilt a ton of the
220 and the type 1027 drum units..up to the mp2550b
i LOATHE the design but i sold a lot of used/lease return machines and a new OEM drum was pricey
and carried no warranty once installed.
Always dump and change the developer and add just a bit less/capfull..
not sure on 2501 model but i use to tweak the bias and HV as the drums
would not hold up over time..
in short I dont sell any of this line anymore and will sell a mpc 3001 or mpc3501
and make a little less but not deal with this crappy drum design

                      Hi TonerMunkeh

                      Yes the manual says B0399510.

What we found is that compatibles that used to work fine in the MP2000 pcu, came up short in the MP2501 series.
Anything from grey/feint copies to dark/dirty backgrounds.

Was not worth it - so we swopped back to genuine Ricoh drums.
