MP3351 stops scanning, has to restart computer.

MP3351 scan to folder on win10 computer normally works fine but every couple of weeks customer calls and says it gives error when trying to scan - something to the effect of "unable to find destination" (sorry I didn't write down the exact error message)
But simply restarting the computer allows scanning back to normal again.
I realize this is not a problem with the Ricoh but I would still like to know if there is an obvious fix for the computer or network.

If it is a computer domain, make sure that the primary DNS is the domain DNS. Also domain name and/or workgroup must be set properly. Check that switch/router/ firewalls are not blocking NetBios.

Is the network Ethernet(cable) or WIFI connected ?
If it's WIFI you could have a device setting "allow windows to disable this device to save power"...

You could have a conflicting IP address from another device, say a laptop(cable) or tablet/mobile logging in when in range.
Power on/off to the PC will force it to obtain another IP address from the server.

      Re: confirm duplicate IP
Do an "ipconfig /all" from the problem PC and get it's IP address. Take the problem PC offline (unplug it) and then ping the same IP address
from another totally different PC an see if there is a ping response to the IP address. This will prove if there is a conflict of IP.

It could be a faulty Ethernet card connection into the PC. Are both network lights working when the problem happens.

Also make sure the computer has a unique name on the network. I've had a few instances where multiple computers have had the same default name from the OEM image (Owner-PC, or something like that). Any DNS servers should also be internal to the network as opposed to using an internet DNS server since you'll never be able to get name resolution.

If there is an actual DNS server on the network, see what an nslookup from a different computer gives you as the IP of the computer you're trying to scan to and compare that to the IP of the computer that's not working: sometimes the DNS tables have too large of a refresh time set so that client systems don't get up to date listings for all of the other clients.

Agree with all the above possibilities, some other things to check, when using a third party router plugged into the ISP's provided router, you need to have the ISP "bridge " their router. This is quite common.
Also, especially with windows 10, in the network sharing center DO NOT ALLOW windows to "manage network connections" or "manage printers" this will cause all kinds of issues.

            .
yes it is a network Ethernet(cable) connection and nothing else is sharing the ip address.

there are only 3 computers and they all have unique names ( the path is set up with computer name rather than ip address (\\owner-pc\scans), 2 of them are win10 and one is win7.

I can recall having issues with XP and scan to folder on the 2228C & 3228C and we fixed it by enabling NetBios over TCP/IP in the PC's IPV4 properties.
Googled "netbios tcp ip windows 10" and found

I will have them try that.
I should have mentioned they can still print fine from the computers when they can't scan.

I had this issue with a C2500 where printing worked fine but scan to folder was hit and miss on all the PC's in the office.
The problem was the patch cord from the printer to the wall jack had some flat / crushed spots and replacing the cable solved the problem.
