    MP7502 SC503-00

    Season greetings,

Got a customer with a MP7502 which has frequent SC503-00 errors. Iv checked to see if they are overloading the tray and whether there is any paper located behind tray 3, however everything seems fine. Also Replaced feed rollers and updated firmware. Machine has done 600k. Has anyone had this issue before or found a solution?

    Merry Christmas

SC 503 is normally a lift motor error. If they are feeding 11X17 paper they should only load half a ream. Otherwise, replace the lift motor.

There's also a little spring that breaks on the feed pickup solenoid, bit of a bugger to get to, but pull the feed head and check it.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

      Hit it.

Tray 3 on an MP 7502 is a tandem style. If the client is sloppy with loading paper you will see an SC503 when the side fence between the two halves is being held out of its home position.

I usually train users to load only the left side, with the right side pushed in, close the tray and allow the machine to move the stack over. After that load the left again. Keeps the paper much neater as loading the right side directly can be a pain.
