[Jamming] MP2550 Jam Code J026 and yes the Lower Gate Pawl is fine...lol

This from Sagar4 back in a thread from Jan 2014...
"I have a Ricoh MP 2550 that only jams when doing two sided copying. Single sided works just find. Tried with bridge and finisher disconnected still same problem. The first side comes all the way out instead of going back in to do the second side and then I get an J026 error code. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. And yes I have the service manual."

The replies mostly suggested he/she replace the Lower Gate Pawl because of the flag breaking off...been there and have done that on this one.
And for this machine this only happens when doing an extended run of 2 sided copying. I did 25 sets of a 12 page 2 sided document and it all went perfect for the first 22 sets. Then a J026 jam. I removed a piece of paper that accordioned trying to go back into the top of the fuser...fail! I set the machine back to a ready state and ran 2-3 more sets of 12 and boom again a J026. After that I never got another 2 sided copy out of the machine. The customer states that if she lets it sit for a couple of hours, she can start her run again but it errors out again after a few copies. She says best results are achieved first thing in the morning. I am guessing that whatever actuates the Lower Gate Pawl flag is the problem (flag is still on the pawl and it all moves smoothly). I see a white plastic arm that appears to set of against the pawl flag. Again I'm guessing that it's moved by the solenoid above it. So Solenoid, sensor???

    Ideas are always welcomed!!

    Thanks so much...

working fine then stops working. I would suggest a sensor is bad working intermittently. Had a mp 171 that would work fine then at some point jam. Luckily this copier only had three sensors after change no more problem with jamming.

The inverter sensor is most likely your culprit. They do tend to fail on machines that do a lot of duplex copies and prints.
