    MP3054 Toner supply

    Hi,

Machine is asking for toner, replaced the toner bottle, no effect.
Seems that the bottle is not rotating, it makes a loud noise every when it is trying to rotate . .
Probably the toner supply motor failing?
Someone seen this on a machine with 146K on the counter?
not much experience on this model.

    Thanks in advance . .

On older machines, that could be caused by an old inner toner bottle cap still being stuck in the chuck of the toner bottle holder.
This is something that mainly caused grief when Lanier was changing from analog Toshibas to digital Ricohs, but you might want to check that the toner bottle drive coupling in the machine actually will mate up with the toner bottle.
Finally, on the machines I've worked on, the drive coupling for the toner bottle is spring loaded. You may want to make sure the spring hasn't failed or the coupling isn't bound up in it's travel.
Just some stupid stuff I'd check before ordering parts. I have no idea if you've tried that already based on your initial post.

The other thing that could be causing the noise is stripped gears on the development unit. B039 3060 & B039 3062. These are on the back end of the mag roller assembly. The gears below them might worn also so inspect them. If they are worn and/or there is developer in the well around them, then the development case will also have to be replaced D120 3371. Ricoh says to also replace the developer when replacing the case, but I usually dump the out on as 11X17 sheet of paper, you can pour it into the new case.
