    MP C3001 SC 681

I have been troubleshooting a 3001 at a customers and before i go and replace it i would like to know what you would suggest i replace next.

They keep getting a SC 681-006 or 681-008

    681
    RFID: Communication error
-Communication error occurs when the RFID starts to communicate
    with the RFID receptor.
    - Retry of RFID communication fails three times after the machine
has detected the RFID communication error.
    - Defective RFID reader and writer
    - Disconnected ASAP I/F
    - No memory chip on the toner cartridge
    - Noise
    1. Replace the RFID controller board.
    2. Replace the toner cartridge

First i replaced all four toner cartridges...no go
Then i replaced the RFID controller board...no go

What next?! And also...what is "ASAP I/F" and Noise?

Power cable : from wall socket to machine!
      Unbeliavable???
I was so cool when it happened to me two weeks ago...

      Noise, means electrical noise.

You are saying it might be that the power cable is not plugged in securely? Or that the actual socket (either from the wall on on the machine) is bad? That would be nice! Hopefully not the I/O Board!

Replace the power cable. Check the wall socket.
In my occation i swapped many times the worn cable
with a good one to clarify the problem. The story...
An MP C4500 removed to another place and customer tried to use a pre-installed cable.
Impossible! I was there to guarantee the resite. All the SC-681 range of codes came up to screen.!!
Put on it's own cord and everything OK!

I'll give it a shot before I pull the machine! Thanks!

              Polo has a good point.
The type of power cable used in the MP C3000 & C4500 has a hard plastic insert where it plugs into the machine that can get damaged by impact and short out.
