Has anyone got Ricoh smb scanning working on a linux distro? I am currently working with Linux Mint 18.1 (Serena). I have samba installed and my scan folder is shared with full permissions.

I have Linux Lite OS installed on an office PC and am able to scan from a Savin C5050! Do you have the GUI installed??? You have to make sure you have GKSU installed and configured properly per here!:

Make sure that you use the admin user login name and password! You should even be able to browse to the PC from the MFP and set the path and password there!

I would think FTP scan would be able to be set up right out of the box... Yes or no?

Your post got me curious, Mika.
I installed Ubuntu a long time ago to fool around with, and SMB setup was a breeze at that time, but it's long been removed, so I installed the new version to see what I could do.
I ran into the same problem initially, the scan status went straight to "waiting", but what I also noticed was when I attempted to browse my shared folder from my Windows 10 box it wouldn't accept my P/W. I also tried browsing from the Op panel of my machine (Currently an SP5210sf), and the same thing happened "Authentication failed".

I found a webpage that gave me a simple instruction (below) that indicates you need to assign a p/w to samba.
I entered the command into terminal, typed in my account password, and scanning worked! I will add, however, that for some reason it takes about 30 seconds to process the scan (at least in my case).
Strangley, I have a crapppy little C242 that I tried just for fun, and it sends instantly

Have you installed Samba? sudo apt-get install samba
If so, then you need to set a Samba password: sudo smbpasswd -a USERNAME. This command will generate a prompt for a password (substitute USERNAME with your username).

Ok, after major youtube research I've discovered my new version of Mint has unresolved issues in the smb scanning department, so I'm going with FTP using Filezilla. I do have a question about that. I just want to scan to my laptop. Do I need to install the server AND client to make it work?
