Re: how to increase mtu parameters on MPc 2004
Never had anyone ask about changing the MTU of the device's interface. I'm pretty sure there is no way to change it, but if there is you would most likely need to use telnet. There are settings via telnet that can't be accessed any other way. I had a browse through my personal device (MP161SPF) and did not find an MTU setting anywhere but it might be worth a look on a newer product.Comment

The default MTU is 1500.
I don't think changing it from that is supported.
IF it could be changed I would hedge a guess it would be done via a telnet command.- Knowledge not shared, is eventually knowledge that becomes lost... like tears in the rain.

I know that the default MTU is 1500 and my first guess lead me to telnet, but I can not find any telnet comand to change it...Comment

I wonder what benefit he thinks he will get out of changing the MTU on the copier.Comment

Re: how to increase mtu parameters on MPc 2004
There is a telnet command, "pathmtu", that is an on or off setting, but that's all I could find. The default is "on", and I doubt that toggling it to "off" would be of any benefit; I would only do that if the machine is not communicating as a test.
It does look like MTU size can be set on the Infoprint product line, but 1500 is the max, with the low end being at 60 on those models.
I am nearly 100% sure that 1500 is the highest any machine will go.
The MTU of 9000 is called a "Jumbo Frame", is NOT the standard, and not that commonly used.
Any traffic headed for the MFP at an MTU of 9000 will be fragmented to the lower size, broken into the smaller packets. If the switch or source has the "no fragment" switch set, the communication will fail, as it can't go in one chunk.“I think you should treat good friends like a fine wine. Re: how to increase mtu parameters on MPc 2004
This was the first question that came up me when I received the support request. I did not want to create many obstacles to the question so that the client would not think I did not feel like helping. However, as soon as I am sure that it is not possible to change the parameters, I will go through this approach, namely to understand with him what benefits he intends to take with the Jumbo packet activation.
Even if we can change the MTU parameters will we have some performance increase taking into account the mechanical speed of the equipment?
