I have problem with machine Ricoh Aficio MP 6500, this morning appears SC 670. In service manual I saw that is the BCU board in question, I enered the service mode then swiched the machine off than on, but nothing. I tried to reconnect all cables on BCU board but nothing, i turned the machine on, again the same thing. The mashine restarts . Then apear the SC 818, I saw in service maual that can be:

System program defective Controller board defective Optional board defective And again restarts Whan can I do else?

looks may be a hdd issue.disconnect hdd and try

I did it and the machine works, but without network cable. Because when I disconnect the HDD and connect the network cable, the machine restarts about 5 minutes after powering on. So, maybe is problem the HDD? I have never replaced a HDD on machines, but I saw in service manual:

1. Format the HDD with SP5832 001
2. Download the stamp data with SP5853

Are this two steps only what I have to do when I replace the HDD?

any hdd from a computer store will work as long as its the same size gb wise. i usually format with my laptop then install, format with copier. make sure to include stamp data. if they had an address book, its gone.

Thanks, I just replaced a one used HDD because I don't have right now a new one. I did the SP 5832 001 to format HDD and SP 5853 to start download the stamp data with CONNECTED network cable. At the begining of downloading stamp data, the machine restarts. I disconnect the network cable and did the procedure again, format, download stamp data but with DISCONNECTED network cable. After downloading stamp data the machine says to reboot. I restart the machine and now happens:

1.The machine operates normaly with DISCONNECTED network cable (I can't send anything from computer to print)

2.With CONNECTED network cable, after switching on the machine, does not pass even 5 minutes machine is restarted

remove the network cable switch the machine on let it warm up
in printer features print a config page

clear all print jobs in the printer queue on the computer

reconnect a new network cable
if the machine is ok
then send a test page from the computer

I also tried to clear the memory with an eraser, so I combined, swap them, so take out one, then another. I tried various combinations and machine restarts again

when you reconnect the network cable does the data light start flashing before the machine restarts

problem seems to happen when the printer is trying to print saved data.

try resetting all the jobs in the queue and update your printer driver.
