SCAN TO FOLDER

LAPTOP IP ADDRESS : 192.168.XX.XX (wifi)
RICOH PRINTER ADDRESS: 10.134.XX.XX (LAN)

The user can print but unable to scan to folder.

Is there a way to solve the problem in scanning?

Can you ping the laptop from the printer? What OS are they running?

The user is using Windows 7. If I connect the laptop in their LAN, of course, scan to folder is working because the range of IP Address is the same. When the user is using wireless, scanning is not working. He can only print but scanning failed.

Does the router have a built-in firewall? It could be blocking SMB.

Have you tried using the laptop's IP address rather than host name?

I have encountered this before at my office trying to scan to computers that connect wifi even if the subnet of both are the same. It has to do with the router/wifi security. Some routers with built in wifi will not allow SMB scan to folders of a wifi connected computer. You might try setting up a separate wireless access point using a device that is only an AP and does not have its own router. This will place any connected computer on the 10.134.xxx.xxx LAN so you might want to keep both wifi devices and be real tight on the security for the AP and what computers can access through it.

Also try using the gateway for both networks as your DNS. Along with unblocking the port on the router.

I have observed that when pinging the machine IP address from the laptop, it is ok. But pinging the laptop IP address using machine PING function, it is failed. Any idea why is it like that?

That could be a setting on the wireless router.

Most likely due to your network topology and different subnet classes. The MFP does not have the capability of setting up a routing table for finding a computer on a different subnet.
