ricoh mp401spf waste full

I have a customer with a ricoh mp401spf that the copier according to customer keeps displaying WASTE TONER FULL. When I arrive to customers office there is no message on screen. So my question is has anyone had this issue before and what was the fix? Thanks in advance!

+1 for replacing the cartridge.
When the toner runs very low on these models rather than asking for toner it tells you that the waste toner is full...go figure.
