If the f/w update didn't take care of the problem (SUB CPU firmware), then the controller board may be defective.
Don't take that toner with me!

Try putting in an extra memory DIMM just to see what happens.

I have about 50 of these in the field and thought they are a terrible box I have never seen this code. Sounds A/C related to me. Try putting a power filter on a couple.

Thanks for both suggestions, Have already tried 2 different power filters, also filters for fax and network line.

as for memory, it has max memory already and no open slots. New memory simms have been tried

BTW i believe this to be a logic problem that Ricoh will have to fix.

50 in field, check your error logs we find most customers just reset m/c and never call. along side the sc816 i see silent 991 codes
These errors occur only in the morning on all the machine as they are awakened, or turned on. It has to do with the STR (suspend to ram) not recieveing a signal on wakeup.

              [Symptom]
              SC816/SC991
              Answer
              [Cause]
              Software malfunction.
              [Resolution]
A temporary workaround lets you avoid the problem if you change the SP5-191-001 energy saver STR mode transition setting from 1: Yes to 0: No.

Ricoh suggests this also, at least for the c4000 c5000 boxes. I don't know for sure if this SP is available on your boxes. I just found this today and switched on one machine so I will have to wait and see if it helps.

Just for the Records: Never had a 7500 Box here with that Error (30 in the Field) ; only a Bunch of Fuser Erros

The SC816 is not even listed in the German Service Manual

                  Re: MPC7500 SC816

I "had" some units have this problem.... months ago. Firmware "did" fix the problem in my case. But it is not just one piece of firmware that fixes..... It is a "combination" of firmware levels that all must play nice together. Trust me . Spend the time and download all firmware for the product. "Get the latest and greatest" and when you update. Update any module that is out of date. Not just the one you think is involved.

In your case. you need at least engine, system, sub-cpu, net file, network support, web support, web Uapl, LCDC.

You should do the engine and system first.... One at a time... reboot after each... then you can choose the rest altogether and update... reboot, NOW save the Sub Cpu for last ,in my experience this firmware can cause errors when updating... but most of the time I get thru it fine.

You can avoid the finisher and adf firmware for now. (seperate problems and keep them seperate)

I also turn AOF off in the User Tools as a temporary fix ...D014_firmware.pdf

If memory serves me Ricoh finally did put out a firmware that fixed this issue, more than 2 years ago.
