    Mpc6502 paper catching

    Hi everyone,

Got a Mpc6502 where the A4 paper lef is getting creased and catching the paper, sometimes even folding when on long print jobs. So far I've adjusted the transport belt height, fitted a spacer on tray one (seen in bulletin)

    Any help would be great

If this is duplex then there's a little mylar on the shifting plate on the underside of the duplex unit. You can rip this mylar out as it can become out of shape and catch the paper intermittently. You can pull it off with a pair of pliers, just make sure you remove any sticky glue that's left over.

      Hi,

I'd say its doing it on both double and single sided. But... thinking about it the machine flips the page so it comes out face down in the tray. So I guess something in the exit assembly might be causing it. I will definitely check out that mylar though, good call.

      Cheers

Fuser intake guides can get a ridge of toner buildup that can cause creasing skewing and outright stoppage. As a run progresses the heat makes the buildup increasingly sticky and the problem worsens.

you can tell if it's after the drum by looking in the crease.. if toner is there... look at fuser inlet or past fuser.

Are the folds flat or not. If flat the paper is catching before the fuser and being pressed flat by the fuser.

Exit sponge rollers lose their shape and need replacing periodically.

                Re: Mpc6502 paper catching

Iv noticed it does it on single sided. I also changed the output to come out face up, and it was fine. So.. I'm guessing somewhere during it reversing the paper. Been looking at the exit assembly and the only thing (which was mentioned by one of your replies) was the grey sponge rollers on exit are a little deformed.
                See pic for fault.

                  8002/6502 exit rollers

                  D135 7166 x4
                  D135 7168 x4
                  D135 7198 x8

These are all sponge rollers you need for the exit unit after the fuser.

I have had this problem about 4 times in the past.

If it always creases on the same place in the paper, you might have an foreign object in the paper path.

Don't even bother trying to rebuild a fusing exit unit on these things its an absolute pain in the bum

D135 7009 is the current exit unit, replace the whole thing as it will cover a bucket load of bulletins in regards to jamming as well

The image above is the sponge rollers in the E2 gate, they are shaped like a pencil head which gives that crease in the paper

Thanks peeps. Replaced sponge rollers as suggested and hey presto.. All working fine.
I see what you mean about the rollers in e2 gate. Will remember that one for next time. Thanks.
