I've got a few of those loose nuts floating around my department. I'll have to keep that one in mind for if/when that happens. Thanks. -

Which SP mode was changed? If it happened once, it's bound to happen again to one of us.Leave a comment:

turns out it was caused by finger trouble. the original engineer had set one of the sp codes incorrectly. a case of not knowing what he was doing when he should have!
thanks for your input ans apologies for taxing your brains for no good reasonLeave a comment:

Thanks for all your input guys.Ricoh are insisting the problem is down to third party roner which is not the case. A new rfid board is on order.I'll keep you posted!!!!Leave a comment:

Guest repliedWhat was the original problem? Did the Tech throw away the old units? If it was me, I would put the old units back in just out of curiosity to see if it still calls for toner. It sounds like a step was missed when re-assembling the machine.Leave a comment:

Guest repliedHello all
A colleague has been called out to a problem with a MPC 4500. The four drums were changed at the same time and once restarted the machine is calling for all 4 toners to be replaced even though there is toner in the carts and the machine wasn't calling for toner before the drums were fitted.
I cant see a correlation between the two, unless the correct procedures weren't followed and the machine has lost the plot somewhere.
Any help would be appreciated
I'm pretty shure you can solve the problem if you check the plugs or put the old TD/ID sensors into the new units.
It's also possible that the NVRam data got corrupted. Printout the SMC lists and backup the NV Ram data on your SD card and try to do a memory clear. If that does solve the problem you may have to enter the non defaults (excl. toner related stuff^^) manually because you would copy back the error if you restore the NV Ram with the SD card backup.Leave a comment:

If it hasn't been done yet.....
I'd print out a sp5990-4 (log), -5 (defaults) for reference and see if other pm/counters are messed up or anything unusual with the sp settings. Checkout SP3101....perhaps NVRAM got clobbered
Then, I'd go back and set SP3902-9,10,11, & 12 to 1 and cycle power. May be simpler just to try this, first. I don't have enough experience with the color Ricohs. Perhaps doing as TonerMunkeh says and do dev as well as the drums.Leave a comment:

Have you tried replacing any of the toners? I had one awhile back that gave a message about not being an OEM toner (I don't recall the exact wording) even though it was a Ricoh bottle. I wonder if something might have happened to the chips on the bottle. Far fetched that they all failed/malfunctioned at the same time, I know.Leave a comment:

I understand that only the drums were replaced. The toners are OEM and the correct items for this machine.
The only thing we can come up with is the RFID antenna board is not communicating with the toner bottle chips, but why......Leave a comment:

well i can only go by the what i do is if it was working before i touched it i.e. wasn't asking for toner and it does seem a little strange that all 4 colours are asking for toner after its been worked on. Track back and look for any connectors. Done that lots of times and just tracked back to find flat wire connectors not pushed on properly or loose connectors etc.
Still finding nothing there is a rtb to upgrade the firmware to version 1.59 or later "to correct replace toner at wrong time"
Are you fitting what ricoh say you should fit or fitting black pcu's and swapping the harness over or filling down the block connectors?Leave a comment:

It sounds like a developer initialisation problem to me, especially with all four going when they were replaced.
Try running manual new unit set (SP 3-9 something or other) for all the PCU's and developers, see what happens then.Leave a comment:
