    MP 6002 SC 720-42

    Just for the knowledge bank

Had a MP6002 that would fire up, go into a finisher jam, after opening / closing the finisher door it would pop a SC 720-42 in bottom left corner of screen.

Observing the finisher the staple head would rotate twice and stay in the staple position which resulted in the staple cartridge being stuck in the staple unit. Swapping the staple head did not fix the issue.

Wire harness going to the stapler had a broken wire that went to the blue connector on the the stapler.
    Part# B700 5368
Pretty sure the finisher was a SR4060

Did you check the service manual to see what problem with the finisher is SC-720-42?

Yes, it's a stapler moment motor error

And have manually checked the movement of the stapler assembly. Could be a bad motor, bad traverse belt, bad HP sensor or a mechanical bind.

The wiring harness had a broken wire in it and that fixed the problem.
