MP 4001 and a SR3000...any way to make them work together?

On P.R.'s website it says these 2 work together.
    So I had a SR790 fail on a MP4001 and had a SR3000 available to replace it.
When I plug it in and boot it threw a SC 819.
Unplugged the SR3000 and reboot went fine.
So after further searching it seems like it doesn't work with the MP 4001.

Is there a way to get it to work or do i need to find a SR 3030?

    Thanks

According to the Product Support Guide, finishers supported on the MP 4001 are t he SR 3030 3000 Sheet Finisher, SR 3020 2000 Sheet Booklet Finisher and the SR 1000 Sheet Finisher. What type of failure did you have on the SR 790 that you are not able to get it fixed?

It was a hard drive failure...don't remember the SC#.
Unplug the SR3000 finisher, plug in a SR790...everything runs just fine.
When the SR3000 is installed and the machine is first turned on you can watch the SR3000 do its setup routine and get to a ready state, then the hard drive error shows up.

Weird, and for what it's worth on the Ricoh Tech Doc Centre the MP4001 list of finishers does not include the SR3000.
