I have a MP2852 that has the print scan and fax installed. It has the 2 media slots on the rear left hand side of the machine. However in user tools ,sys settings. admin tools, the media slot usage icon is not available. I have a 2352 that has all the same capabilities but does allow me to turn on or off the media slots. I have not found anything is service mode to change this,

Refer to the service manual - installation - USB2.0/SD Slot Type H (D594. At the end there are 2 SP settings listed. Make those settings and the USB port that the device connects to will now be usable for print and scan from USB device. I have used this procedure successfully. As yet I have not tried to use a multi-device USB adapter in order to use an SD card.
