I feel that this is a driver issue but would like another view. The customer's PCL6 driver seems to be the cause because the RPCS driver doesn't do the bold print AND it seems to be mainly with this particular document. However, I have seen it on other documents. She is VERY picky and likes the PCL6 color better of course! I have seen this on a old MPC3500 as well. Any idea's of how to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Ricoh MPC5000 - Bold print only when printing
Replace the black transfer roller in the ITB unit. Replace anything that is more than 125% of recommended PM count.
Also make the adjustments in the attached.

Re: Ricoh MPC5000 - Bold print only when printing
The font looks like Calibri.... was the document printed from Adobe PDF? If so, there is a known issue with PCL drivers and Adobe when printing certain fonts, and Calibri is one of them.
See the discussion over on this other thread:
(That is a Konica thread but the problem is with all PCL drivers as far as I know not just Konica... at least I can say from a "user" perspective I have had this happen on both Konica and Ricoh MFPs).Comment

Re: Ricoh MPC5000 - Bold print only when printing
As far as I know there is no fix other than switch to a PS driver or change font, Arial is a good substitution.
I believe if you print natively from Word it doesn't happen, but if you save to PDF and print from PDF then it is an issue.Comment

Re: Ricoh MPC5000 - Bold print only when printing
I have had an identical problem with a MP C2500 when printing PDF's. As a work around I changed "4 Color Graphic Mode" from "Photo Priority" to "Text Priority" (USER TOOLS/Counter, Printer Features, Maintenance). The permanent fix was to install the PostScript 3 Option.Comment

Re: Ricoh MPC5000 - Bold print only when printing
I had customer piece by piece delete part of her page to see if there was something in that particular document causing the issue. And sure enough the title on the top was causing the issue. After we reduced the font size of the title the bold shrunk in size in the paragraph below and when we deleted the title all together the bold was gone. So, it appears to be with just her document.
Cheers to Saburnsjax for the font suggestion! Put me on the right track!
PS has already been installed by the way.
Thanks everyone for your help!!!!!Comment

Re: Ricoh MPC5000 - Bold print only when printing
I'm not sure what happened to the rest of this thread but I posted previously the solution. It was her document that was causing the issue. We started pealing away sections of her document until we found out that she a cut and pasted the title which was the cause. 😀Comment
