    MPc4500 SC202

I know that this code is caused by the poly motor going bad and that it should be replaced along with the BICU board.
The question is, there is no BICU listed in the manual, only a IOB, BCU and a IPU. Which one is considered the BICU?

I believe this is only applicable to the MPC2000 to MPC5000 range.

It should only be replaced if the screen is black, as this is caused by the BCU being damaged.
If the screen still works, replace the polygon with the modified part.

Ricoh Knowledgebase only mentions replacing the polygon, or transfer roller case, when SC202 occurs.

The display is black as well. I have already replaced the poly motor, but no change. I did not find with ricoh anything about the BCU. I will give it a go.
        Thanks

I didn't think it was the poly motor. I thought it was one of the 4 laser alignment motors on the front of the write unit itself.

In all of my sc202 cases, I learned early on that you need to replace poly mirror motor and BCU as a set. I have also had a couple of them end up being the transfer case issue. And I had one that was a broken wire that jumps the gap from the right hand door to the mainframe (a green wire if I remember correctly). Just a thought to check those first. But in most cases just replace poly and BCU as a set. When the mirror motor goes it takes the BCU out too.

Defo BICU. You'll need to swap over the little chip from the original board and enter the machines serial number onto the replacement board in the factory sp.

I have also had SC202 being caused by a bad earth from secondary transfer. Took ages to find it.

The display was working and had tried all the usual bits.... really made me scratch my head.

Replaced the poly motor, upgraded to the new unit. display was still black, tried the new BCU (there is no BICU) no difference. Turned out it blew a fuse on the power supply when the motor burned out.
