    MPC5501 vs MPC5501a firmware?

    Firmware.....Are they the same!? I have a MPC5501a that is jamming going into the finisher no matter what finisher I install. Replaced SR790 with another SR790 then to a SR3030 with no change. Then replaced bridge unit and plug to finisher with no change. I'm wondering if it is a firmware issue but only have the MPC5501 firmware at the moment. Any other idea's?

      Check out your jam codes. There may be a component other than the exit sensor causing jams. And yes, the engine firmware is different for machines with a single pass document feeder. I know on some other models if you load the wrong engine firmware you will smoke adf main board.

          I found the original finisher (SR3030) in the warehouse and that one works! Not sure what the difference is with the other SR3030 other than it is older and probably came off a MPC4500. Firmware? The only firmware update I was aware of that caused this issue was for the SR3020 folder finisher. Am I missing something?

              plug the 790 in and check the finisher firmware.

              needs to be B4085154 B4085163 5.10 or newer to work on the D086/D087/D088/D089

              unless you have a chip burner firmware is updated on the finisher by replacing a chip on the board.

                  The MP C5501A has a single pass document feeder. Engine and document feeder firmware are different. All others are the same. Having the wrong engine firmware installed could case a problem, bur most likely only for document feed operation. Check the part number for the firmware on the Diagnostic Report SP 5990-006.
